NewCo leadership announcements: August update

We’ve had several big announcements over the past few weeks, including some of our global senior leadership team as well as many new market leaders. Here's a full recap of the announcements since our last update:


Country Leadership

Direct Markets

We have appointed Peter Vogel as CEO ANZ, and he will also represent the South East Asia hub markets.  Peter is currently MEC APAC CEO and previously led MEC AUNZ as CEO for 6 years.

In Germany, Sebastian Hupf, becomes CEO of NewCo. He has been a part of the GroupM network for over 13 years, previously as CEO of Mindshare and as CSO at MEC.

In India, NewCo will be led by Kartik Sharma, currently Maxus MD.  Gangs, MEC’s managing director, becomes Chairman of India and MD North Asia for Essence.  Anand Chakravarthy, currently managing partner at Maxus becomes MD of Essence India.

Amanda Richman has been announced as leader of NewCo USA. Amanda joins us from Starcom USA , where she was President of Investment overseeing strategy and activation across all channels and clients, including Airbnb, Bank of America, Best Buy, ESPN, Kraft Heinz and Samsung.

Hub Markets

In Turkey, Neslihan Olcay, current leader of Maxus, will become the leader of NewCo. Neslihan Olcay has been at Maxus Turkey CEO since 2011 and was also named as the Chief Digital Development Officer of GroupM Turkey in 2016. Serdar Aytok of MEC will become the market’s COO.

Henning Gronki of Maxus will be taking the lead at NewCo Switzerland.  Since joining Maxus he has played an integral role in leading change in the Swiss market, tripling their PBT within 18 months.

Denmark will be led by Kristian Baek-Mikkelsen of Maxus, who brings over 20 years’ experience producing award-winning work in markets from Wall Street to Eastern Europe, as an entrepreneur and part of established agencies.

In the Czech Republic, NewCo will be led by Daniel Zivica and Ondrej Simunek and David Novak of Maxus becomes COO at Mediacom.

Global Roles

Earlier this month we announced the following positions:

 Ajit Varghese as President, Market Development.  Ajit has been CEO APAC for Maxus since 2014 and prior to that was CEO for South Asia for 7 years.  In this new role, Ajit is responsible for driving the global NewCostrategic plan into our Hub Markets.

Alex Altman as President, Global Client Operations and MD Client Solutions London.  Alex joined MEC Global Solutions as London Managing Director in 2013. As part of his current role, he is responsible for the global Vodafone relationship.

Matthias Bruell as Global Chief Product Officer.  Matthias is currently MEC’s CEO for EMEA.  He was appointed as CEO of MEC Germany in 2011, also overseeing operations in Switzerland and was named CEO of GroupM Germany in 2015.
